I wrote a paper last semester arguing for a faint but structurally significant allusion to Psalm 107 in Mark 4:35–6:44. Your discovery doesn’t completely surprise me. I am convinced that the writer of “Mark” was a consummately skilled dramatist. Further, as the book “The Gospel of Mark and the Homeric Epics” details, he frequently very intentionally established parallels with other literature that his audiences would know.
